The snow gauge at our Randolph Hill home is almost buried. We need a bigger snow guage! Winter storm Bruce has delivered 18 inches new to our yard. This new snow is on top of five previous November snowfalls that have not melted, which is why our snow stake is showing a base of nearly 30 inches! Natural snow base depths now average 36 inches in the higher elevations in our neck of the woods. Snow totals from around our region are being reported anywhere from 12 inches to as much as 18 inches. Wildcat Mountain at storm’s end early this morning reported 17 inches.
Winter storm Bruce provided snow with good moisture content which will be ideal for establishing a base on the snowmobile trails, cross-country ski trails and the natural snow trails at our local ski resorts. In fact, nearby Great Glen Trails is in full operation with all 45 KM of cross county and snowshoe trails in great shape. The Mt. Washington Auto Road Snow Coach will also begin its winter season this Saturday.
Nearby ski resorts Sunday River, Wildcat Mountain, and Bretton Woods are in amazing shape and are reporting mid-winter powder and packed powder conditions. Snowmaking continues around the clock with new terrain opening daily. Natural snow, manmade snow, and cold temps all make it worthwhile to make your trip north.
So, it’s time to make plans to enjoy our Winter Wonderland! We have rooms available for all December weekends and offer our guests free tubing & cross-country skiing at Great Glen Trails. Plus we have discounted Snow Coach Tours as well. Simply ask our front desk clerk for them when checking in. We look forward to being your host for your winter adventures in the White Mountains. Welcome to the Royalty Inn!
