As the ski and snowboard season wind down, hiking the White Mountains always gives you a reason to be here. With the snow melt from the peaks, the local rivers are now swollen and their waterfalls become very dramatic. The easiest and one of the closest waterfalls to access from the Royalty Inn is the Ellis River Falls located off Rt. 16 just south of Pinkham Notch. After crossing Rt. 16 via an underground walkway, this waterfall is an easy walk up & down beautifully-crafted stone stairs and timber railings. The views are terrific and the sounds of the vigorous water are stirring! The 65 foot Ellis River Falls is located only 12 miles from the Royalty Inn and is sure to delight all visitors.
Another nearby falls is Crystal Cascade Falls located in back of the AMC Pinkham Notch Lodge. Slightly more demanding, a steady climb brings you to a wooden bridge to another 200 feet of steep and rocky incline to the overlook of this 80 foot falls. The Mount Washington Valley actually has the highest concentration of waterfalls than any other part of the State of New Hampshire. Click here for a complete waterfall guide to the White Mountains. Enjoy the views and welcome to the Royalty inn!
